Istanbul Sufi Ceremonies Ensemble Performs Devran in Sarajevo

On May 3, 2023, the Istanbul Sufi Ceremonies Ensemble was invited to perform Devran in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event was organized by Tarikatski Centar u Bosni i Hercegovini to mark the 40th anniversary of the center’s founding. Established in 1983, Tarikatski Centar is one of the most prominent institutions dedicated to preserving and transmitting the Sufi tradition in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Over the decades, it has played a central role in sustaining spiritual life in the Balkans and maintaining strong cultural and spiritual ties with Türkiye. The program, themed around “brotherhood,” brought together Sufi sheikhs and spiritual leaders from various countries, transforming the evening into a profound international gathering. The deep historical and cultural bonds between Türkiye and Bosnia—rooted in centuries of shared Ottoman heritage—were poignantly reflected throughout the night.
